After 18 months as dean of admissions and enrollment development, Marcelle Heerschap is leaving George Mason at the end of June. Heerschap and her family are moving to Pretoria, South Africa, as part of her husband’s two-year tour with the U.S. State Department. Linda Schwartzstein, vice provost for academic affairs, is leading the search committee for a replacement.
Heerschap recognizes George Mason’s rapidly growing national reputation and regrets that she will miss this phase of the university’s history. “My short time at Mason has been incredible for me both personally and professionally,” she says. “I have had the opportunity to work with faculty, staff, and students who are exceptional in their fields and who want to bring their creative energy to this young institution.”
