George Mason’s Kevin Nishiyama has been selected to participate in the fifth annual National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Foundation Leadership Conference from May 28 through June 1 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports and Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. It is George Mason’s first-ever selection to the conference.
Nishiyama was one of the student-athletes selected from a total of 885 nominations from NCAA-member institutions that participate in the CHAMPS/Life Skills Program. The mission of the NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference is to provide a diverse group of the nation’s top student-athletes an opportunity to actively participate in challenging and thought-provoking activities that will enable them to become better leaders on their campuses and in their communities.
Nishiyama is a sophomore cross country and track and field athlete whose highlights this season in the 2001 indoor track season include a sixth-place finish in the 500 meter at the IC4A Championships and a fourth-place finish in the 800 meter Collegiate Invitational.
