The fifth annual Victims’ Rights Fitness Run/Walk around Patriot Circle highlights Victims’ Rights Week, April 23-27. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate in the event at noon on Thursday, April 26. President Alan Merten and his wife Sally lead the run/walk, which begins at the University Police headquarters in Lot C.

A jogger safety seminar takes place Wednesday, April 25, in the Johnson Center, Room B. Henley Gabeau, president of the Road Runner’s Club of America, and Kelcy Stefansson, U.S. Park Police, give tips on staying safe when running and exercising outdoors.

The week concludes with the third annual Patriot Anti-Violence Education (PAVE) Run/Walk. George Mason student-athletes, coaches, and administrators will participate in this five-kilometer event to raise funds to help support the Aimee Willard Endowed Scholarship fund and the Northern Virginia Turn Off the Violence campaign. The PAVE walk/run is an Intercollegiate Athletic Department and Sexual Assault Services initiative to raise awareness of an anti-violent atmosphere in the campus community.

Sexual Assault Services and the University Police Department cosponsor all events. For more information and a complete list of events, contact Connie Kirkland at x34364.
