The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will host and sponsor Special Olympics Virginia’s First Annual Special Olympics Invitational Aquatic Meet on Saturday, April 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Fairfax Campus Aquatics and Fitness Center.

Approximately 150 athletes will participate representing these Northern Virginia areas: cities of Fredericksburg, Manassas, Fairfax, Falls Church, and Alexandria; and the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline, King George, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Fairfax, and Arlington.

The George Mason Swimming and Diving team, along with Sigma Chi Fraternity, will be co-hosting the event as volunteers running the meet. Qualifiers from this event will advance to the regional meet (also held at George Mason, but hosted by the Potomac Marlins Swim Team) on April 28. Winners from that meet qualify for the state meet to be held in Richmond on June 9-11.
