Mason Week Begins Today

The MTV Campus Invasion Tour and Concert kick off Mason Week activities today beginning at noon. The week is highlighted by Mason Day on Thursday with a variety of bands, and free food and beverages.

The MTV Campus Invasion Tour Activity Village includes a virtual tour of the MTV studios and displays on the history of hip-hop. This free event runs from noon to 5 p.m. on the Quad. The MTV Campus Invasion Tour Concert features Saliva, American Hi-Fi, and Sum 41 in the Johnson Center Multipurpose Room at 8 p.m. Admission is free with a George Mason ID and $5 for other guests. Doors open at 7 p.m.

A comedy show featuring Darren Carter begins at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the SUB II Marketplace. Members of the George Mason community are also encouraged to make their own music videos at Fun Flicks from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the SUB I Lobby.

Seven bands and the Taste of Fairfax will draw students, faculty, and staff to the Quad on Mason Day. Scheduled to play throughout the day are Elysium, Soldiers of Jah Army, Maven, devon, Sunny Ledfurd, Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, and Xzibit.
