George Mason women’s basketball head coach Debbie Taneyhill has signed a three-year contract extension to run through April 2004.
The 2000-01 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Coach of the Year, Taneyhill guided the Patriots to a 21-9 overall record, tying the program’s mark for most wins, while also compiling a program-best 11-5 CAA record. Additionally the women’s basketball team made their first postseason appearance, and hosted a first round game versus Georgetown University in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
“The George Mason family is pleased that Coach Taneyhill will be here to continue guiding our women’s basketball program in the right direction,” says athletics director Tom O’Connor. “She is a great motivator and role model for the team, and we’re happy to keep her in Fairfax.”
