George Mason senior George Evans has been invited and will participate in the 49th annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT), April 4-7. All events in the tournament are held at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia, which is Evans’s hometown.

Evans is one of 64 college seniors invited to participate in the prestigious tournament, which is known for giving players – particularly those who played at schools with less national exposure than the major conferences – an opportunity to show their talents in front of scouts from the National Basketball Association (NBA), minor leagues, and European teams. Future NBA stars who improved their draft status at the PIT include Dennis Rodman, Dan Majerle, Charles Oakley, and John Stockton.

The PIT is the first of three postseason camps for the top seniors. The best performers at the PIT are invited to the Desert Classic, held in Tucson, Arizona, May 1-5. Players can then advance on to a NBA draft combine in Chicago in June.
