Daniele Struppa, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), has announced the creation of the Mary Roper Award for Outstanding Staff Service. This award honors a classified staff member who has shown outstanding service in support of the core goals of CAS – improving the quality of the liberal arts experience for all students,
increasing the capacity for noteworthy and innovative scholarship, and
creating and strengthening external relationships.
CAS seeks nominations for the award from faculty, staff, and students. Send letters to the Mary Roper Award Selection Committee, C100 College Hall, MS 3A3, or via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Nominations should include a paragraph on the candidate’s background, and describe the candidate’s contribution to CAS in support of the department and college goals. All nominations are due by April 10 at 5 p.m.
The award is named for Mary Roper, administrative assistant to the chief of staff, who worked in the Department of Biology and in the CAS Dean’s Office for a total of 14 years. “When Mary left the college to take on her new role in the President’s Office, we wanted to do something to honor her years of outstanding service,” says Struppa.
