A rally in support of higher education begins at noon today in the Johnson Center Atrium. Several Virginia state legislators are addressing students, faculty, and staff regarding the current state of the commonwealth’s budget for higher education and Gov. Jim Gilmore’s recent cuts to George Mason’s capital budget.

The rally highlights the impact of the cuts on the university’s two top priority capital projects: the Fairfax Academic IV construction project and the planning for Arlington II.

In attendance are Delegate Bob Brink (Arlington), Delegate Brian Moran (Alexandria), Senator Patricia Ticer (Alexandria), Delegate Vivian Watts (Annandale), Senator Mary Margaret Whipple (Arlington), and Lilla Richards, former member of the Board of Visitors and Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.
