Increase in Faculty Grants, Contract Activity Reported

Grant and contract activity is on the rise at George Mason. According to a report released by the Office of Sponsored Programs, the amount of monies brought in by faculty members between July and December 2000 totaled $22.2 million. During the same period in 1999, university faculty members brought in $20.5 million.
This upward momentum is being maintained, as in January 2001 faculty members brought in $4.1 million.
The same report states that for the last half of 2000, the amount of expenditures by the Office of Sponsored Programs totaled $22.4 million as compared to $19.9 million for the same period in 1999.
