The Administration of Justice (ADJ) program is hosting a group of 25 Romanian judges this week for a four-day program on the rule of law and administration of justice. ADJ was awarded a sub-contract from the U.S. State Department and is working in conjunction with the International Judicial Academy in Washington, D.C.

The program was created to help Romanian leaders in the justice arena to ensure that rights are respected and proper legal processes are followed. Throughout the week, the judges will participate in lectures and discussions on American law and procedure, meet with professionals in the justice system, and tour justice facilities.

“We are delighted that George Mason University was chosen for this important work, and we are pleased to introduce the American justice system to the Romanian judges, including both the strengths and problems of our system,” says Jon Gould, who is directing the program. “We hope that the program will help them in setting the direction for future developments in Romania.”
