Daniele Struppa, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), held the first meeting of his Student Advisory Board last week. The board has 10 members ranging from freshman to juniors who represent the three aspects of CAS: sciences, social sciences, and humanities.
The mission of the board is to improve the quality of the liberal arts experience for all students, one of the college’s three primary objectives. The board, diverse in its makeup, will provide the dean with insight into the undergraduate student experience in CAS and will serve as a conduit to other students on campus. Members will stay on the board through their graduation. The board meets three times per semester, and also informally with the dean.
The members of the board are freshmen Lauren Geerdes and Kathryn Mikkelson; sophomores Joshua Grinnell, DeJuan Stroman, Judy Pryor, Asal Najafi, Alaleh Mohammadi-Khah, and Diana Wilson; and juniors James Parker and Sharon Bloomquist.
The board’s next meeting is Wednesday, March 14.
