The Staff Senate is seeking nominations for prospective senators. Senators, who must be either classified staff members or non-student wage employees, will serve a two-year term and be required to attend the regularly scheduled general Staff Senate meetings. In addition, senators will be assigned to serve on a committee that will meet regularly.
The Staff Senate is the official body that represents all classified and non-student wage employees at George Mason. Some of the primary goals of the organization are to facilitate communication among staff members; foster a spirit of unity and cooperation; keep open lines of communication with the president, the faculty, and the students of the university; and act as an advocate for the George Mason staff by bringing their concerns to the attention of the appropriate body and following through to resolution.
Nominations may be made by any classified or non-student wage employee. All nominees must be aware of the nomination and be willing to accept the position. Each College or Administrative Unit (COAU) representative must receive all nominations by March 15. COAU representatives are Stacey Remick-Simkins (COAU1), Lynn Siegel (COAU2), Bobbi Ritz (COAU3), Sally Pettyjohn (COAU4), Ida Barbour (COAU5), Amanda Harrison (Arlington), and Eric Brown (Prince William).
Ballots will be distributed via e-mail on March 21 and all ballots must be returned by 5 p.m. on March 28. Announcement of the newly elected senators will be made the first week of April.
