Members of the School of Law are available to help people prepare their income tax returns every Saturday through April 14, from noon to 5 p.m. on the Arlington Campus. All eligible members of the university community, including students and faculty and staff members, are encouraged to take advantage of this free service.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA), a national program that provides individuals with free assistance in basic income tax preparation, sponsors the service. Individuals who have no children and made less than $25,000 last year and individuals with children who made less than $35,000 last year are eligible for the service.
Eligible individuals should bring wage and earnings statements (W-2s and 1099s) from all employers, interest statements from banks (Form 1099-INT and 1099-DIV), and any other tax information received by mail. Individuals should also bring social security numbers for themselves and for the family members that they support, a copy of last year’s tax return, and all other relevant information about income and expenses.
For more information, call the School of Law’s information line at x38000 and press 8, or visit the university’s VITA web site.
