Alexander Is Second Candidate for CVPA Dean

Peter Alexander is the second candidate for dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) to visit the Fairfax Campus. Alexander makes a presentation to the university community today at 10:30 a.m. in Mason Hall, Room D3.
Currently the dean of the College of Arts at the University of Southern Mississippi, Alexander holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, the University of Wisconsin, and Columbia University. From 1988 to 1996, Alexander was the dean of the School of Fine and Performing Arts at State University of New York at New Paltz. Prior to that, he served as music department chair and professor of music and was the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. A clarinetist, he has had a busy career performing with orchestras, chamber ensembles, and other musical groups, and has recorded several compact discs.
