Alumni Receive Invitation to “Pack the Patriot Center”

Last week, George Mason alumni received an online video message inviting them to attend the Homecoming Week basketball games. Sponsored by the Office of Alumni Affairs and the University Development Office, the message is the second in a series of video e-mails inviting alumni to stay involved in the university community. The company Campaign Solutions creates the messages.

The Homecoming Week message features Jim Larranaga and Debbie Taneyhill, the head coaches of the men’s and women’s basketball teams. The coaches invite alumni to show their “patriot pride” and “pack the Patriot Center” during the women’s basketball game tonight at 7 p.m. and the men’s game on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 4 p.m.

In the first message, which was sent in December, President Alan Merten and his wife Sally wished alumni season’s greetings. Feedback from alumni has been very positive regarding the e-mail project, and the next message will be sent sometime in the spring.

Alumni Affairs is currently developing an alumni database and welcomes any assistance in collecting and updating alumni e-mail addresses. The office already has the George Mason e-mail addresses of alumni faculty and staff members, but all other alumni can update their records by sending an email to
