Intercollegiate Athletics and the Army Reserve are teaming up for the event “Ten Years After the Storm: The Army Reserve Salutes Americans” for the men’s basketball game against William and Mary tomorrow at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on Home Team Sports (Cox Cable, channel 86).
The event focuses on the George Mason community and Fairfax Desert Storm veterans. The Army Reserve will present awards to President Alan Merten and Fairfax Mayor John Mason for the support both the university and the city gave to Army Reserve soldiers as they transitioned from civilian employees and students to active-duty soldiers during Desert Storm.
The Patriots’ senior forward George Evans will be part of the pre-game ceremony as an Army Reserve veteran. Evans came to George Mason after eight years of service with the U.S. Army and participated in the peace-keeping mission during “Operation Desert Storm” in February of 1991.
All military family and friends’ tickets are $3 each with military ID.
