In an early Valentine’s Day celebration, 15 “bold and beautiful Mason women” present The Vagina Monologues, Eve Ensler’s Obie award-winning play, on Friday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m. at TheaterSpace in the Performing Arts Building. George Mason’s Women’s Center, Sexual Assault Services, Health Education Services, and Theater of the First Amendment sponsor the event.
The Vagina Monologues is a series of stories, based on interviews, in which women talk about the most secret part of their bodies. The monologues explore questions often pondered, but seldom asked. A post-performance discussion with the cast and professionals follows the play.
Tickets for the performance are available through the Ticket Office at x38888, or the Health and Wellness Center Resource Center at x33686. Advance tickets are $3.50 for students, $7 for faculty/staff, and $10 for members of the community. All proceeds benefit the Fairfax County chapter of Girl Power!, a national public education campaign sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help encourage and motivate 9- to 14-year-old girls to make the most of their lives.
