Denise Leming, an executive secretary in the law school, has been named February’s Employee of the Month. During her 18 months as an employee in the office of the associate dean for student academic affairs, Leming’s dedication and perseverance have helped her stand out as an exemplary employee.
Leming’s responsibilities include general office managerial duties, assisting the deans, and keeping the adjuncts’ schedules. “Mrs. Leming exemplifies the traits of energy, dedication, and intelligence that are necessary to support our mission,” says Daniel Polsby, associate dean at the School of Law.
In her Employee of the Month nominations, Leming is repeatedly praised for completing tasks outside her job description and for exceeding expectations. She appreciates the freedom that her supervisors have given her to take on additional responsibilities because “it proves the staff respects me enough to let me work independently,” she says. “It is an honor to work with the caliber of people I work with. The adjuncts have stolen my heart and the deans are great men.”
Before coming to George Mason, Leming worked with missionaries in Kansas City and served the U.S. State Department in the narcotics division at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela.
