The Instructional Resource Center (IRC), part of the Division of Instructional Improvement and Instructional Technologies, hosts an open house today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Robinson Hall A, Room 104. The purpose of the open house is to demonstrate how IRC helps faculty members use technology to meet their instructional goals. The event gives participants the opportunity to view the software and hardware that are available in the center’s lab.
Scheduled demonstrations include utilizing WebCT in the classroom, narrating a Power Point presentation and publishing the presentation on the web, scanning images, and creating PDF files. In addition, open house attendees will meet Star Muir, the new director of Learning Support Services, who oversees both IRC and the Student Technology Assistance and Resource Center.
IRC has also scheduled open houses on the other two university campuses. The Prince William Campus open house is Monday, Feb. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon in PW 1, Room 232. The Arlington Campus open house is Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Original Building, Rooms 304 and 305.
