If you are a lover of the arts, George Mason has a weekend lineup that will keep you entertained. Tonight and tomorrow George Mason opera students perform a variety of scenes from the great operas of Purcell, Mozart, Puccini, and more. They will also perform scenes from a variety of musical theater productions, including Camelot and The Pirates of Penzance. Both performances take place in Harris Theater at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
As part of this weekend’s Norwegian Festival at Union Station in Washington, D.C., several scenes from the Theater of the First Amendment’s (TFA) September production of Henrik Ibsen’s The Lady from the Sea will be performed by Mason theater students who understudied and worked on the TFA production. Rick Davis, artistic director of TFA and interim director of the Institute of the Arts, invites the Mason community to the presentation held tomorrow from 2 to 4 p.m.
The George Mason Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Art Pittman, performs Monday, Dec, 4. at 7:30 p.m. in the W.T. Woodson High School Auditorium in Fairfax, across from the Fair City Mall. Admission is free.
