George Mason celebrates the holidays with the annual festival of lights celebration beginning today through Thursday, Dec. 7. Sponsored by University Life, the theme for the event is “Party Like There’s Snow Tomorrow.” Activities are offered throughout the week for students in celebration of the holiday season.
The celebration kicks off today with the presentation of the movie X-men in the Johnson Center Cinema at 6 and 9 p.m. The movie is also shown Friday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 9 p.m. and midnight. In addition, on Friday from midnight to 2 a.m. (Saturday morning) free food and entertainment is available in the lower level of SUB I in continuation of First Fridays.
Several activities are being offered Dec. 4 through 7. From 11 to 4 p.m. in the Johnson Center Kiosk and Room 116, students can make holiday crafts at the craft corner. Free craft supplies, including beads, glue, glitter, and cut-outs, will be available. Dining Services sponsors cookie decorating from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the same locations. Sugar cookies will be available to decorate with icing and sprinkles. Students stressed out from work overload can de-stress courtesy of Health Education Services and the Counseling Center. They will have free tea and information on stress reduction, nutrition, and study skills available for students.
Mason’s mascot, Gunston, is available for pictures in the Johnson Center Atrium from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6. The free pictures will be turned into buttons for Homecoming. For more information, contact Student Activities at x32909.
