Wescott Leads Patriots to Basketball Tournament Championship

Senior forward Tish Wescott scored a career-high 19 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds to lead the George Mason women’s basketball team to a win over Ball State, 78-54, in the Comfort Inn-University Center/Patriot Thanksgiving Classic. George Mason has improved to 4-0 on the season and is off to its best start in school history.
Wescott recorded her third career double-double (points-rebounds) on her to way to earning tournament MVP honors. Freshman guard Jen Derevjanik scored 18 points and added four assists, four rebounds, and three steals, and was named to the all-tournament team. Senior forward Jill Regan was the third Patriot to post double-figure points with a career high of 14. She also had six rebounds, one assist, and one block.
The Patriots return to action tomorrow night, when they travel to Georgetown for an 8 p.m. game. George Mason returns home on Sunday, Dec. 3, when it plays nationally ranked Duke.
