For the first time in four years, the George Mason women’s volleyball team enters this weekend’s Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Tournament as the top seed.
The Patriots, 16 and 9 overall, and 8 and 4 in the CAA, will take on the winner of the Virginia Commonwealth University–University of North Carolina Wilmington match on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 4:30 p.m. at James Madison University. Mason has swept both possible opponents in earlier meetings this season.
The winner of the Patriots’ match will play the winner of the James Madison–College of William and Mary match in the CAA championship on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m.
The last time the Patriots were the No. 1 seed was in 1996 when they defeated JMU 3 to 0 (15 to 4, 15 to 1, 15 to 6) for their fifth-straight CAA championship and their fourth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
