Sara Kaufman, a dance critic for the Washington Post, lectures today on writing about dance. She speaks to students of the linked DANC 150 Improvisation and ENGL 101 Composition courses. The public is invited to attend this free event.

To give Kaufman and participants common ground to discuss writing about dance, the George Mason Dance Company performs Mark Morris’s “Marble Halls,” a work to be featured in the company’s February gala concert, immediately before the lecture.

Elizabeth Price, Dance, is excited about the event. “It is the first time that something like this has been attempted. I hope that it successfully brings together the two forms of communication, verbal and non-verbal, for the students,” Price says.

The lecture is held in the Performing Arts Building, Room 301A, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. A reception follows. For more information, contact Elizabeth Price at x32137.
