Department of Music Offers Variety of Events Next Week

The Department of Music is sponsoring several musical events next week. The department presents Baroque and Classical Concert Sunday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. in Harris Theater. The event features conductors Anthony Maiello of the Mason Chamber Orchestra, Sheri Neill of the Mason Women’s Chorale, and Stan Engebretson of the GMUniversity Singers.

Monday, Nov. 13, at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall, Maiello and John Casagrande, conductor of the Mason Symphonic Band, are featured in Symphonic Favorites. This event had previously been scheduled for Nov. 20. A piano master class, featuring Venezuelan pianist Carlos Rodriquez and Mason piano students, takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Harris Theater from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

The Jazz Ensemble and the Jazz Chamber Ensemble hold their concert in Harris Theater Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 8 p.m. The concert features James Carroll, director of the Mason Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Chamber Ensemble. SoundCheque and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, featuring Engebretson, is presented Friday, Nov.17, at 8 p.m. in Harris Theater.

Unless otherwise noted, tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. For each event, 50 free tickets are available to students. For more information, contact the Music Department at x31380.
