The U.S. Agency for International Development has awarded the Mason Enterprise Center a $601,873 grant for a project to develop business partnerships between area information technology companies and Romanian IT firms. The project will establish a Romanian American Trade Development Center, with operations in Bucharest at the Software Association of Romania and at Incubator America! in Arlington, Va.

The Arlington Small Business Development Center, the Mason Enterprise Center’s International Small Business Development Center, will provide additional marketing, management, and financial counseling for the annual intake of 12 Romanian IT companies as they domesticate themselves in the United States.

U.S. organizations that have joined the Mason Enterprise Center in developing and participating in this project include James Madison University, Teleglobe International, and Catalyst Network. Congressman Frank Wolf also was instrumental in developing the opportunity to create relationships between Virginia and Romanian companies.

For more information on the project, contact Marshall Ferrin, director of international business development, Mason Enterprise Center and Incubator America!, at mferrin@gmu.edu.
