The Mason Sustainability Institute (MSI) will offer two free workshops on permaculture, an approach to designing human settlements and agricultural systems that is modeled on the relationships found in nature.

Both workshops will cover the same material and will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Room 117 of the Green Acres Community Center,  4401 Sideburn Road, Fairfax, Va.

Danielle Wyman, sustainability projects specialist in Mason’s Office of Sustainability, will lead the group in discussing how to grow your own food, create edible landscaping, reduce waste and live a more sustainable lifestyle. Wyman is certified in permaculture design.
