All four of the undergraduate engineering programs within the School of Information Technology and Engineering (IT&E) recently received a full, six-year accreditation under new standards established by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET). The programs are computer science; systems engineering and operations research; electrical and computer engineering; and civil, environmental, and infrastructure engineering.
According to IT&E dean Lloyd Griffiths, “Not many schools across the nation have yet been accredited under the new rules established by ABET. For those that have, many have received conditional accreditation status that will require a re-visit in two years.”
IT&E’s associate dean Bernard White coordinated the effort to earn the full accreditation.
