Free Russian Film Screening at the JC Cinema This Weekend

Two Russian films are shown at the Johnson Center Cinema this weekend–Diary of His Wife, directed by Alexei Uchitel, and The Captain’s Daughter, directed by Alexander Proshkin.

Diary of His Wife portrays the life of the first Russian Nobel Prize-winning author Ivan Bunin and has been nominated as Russia’s entry for the Academy Awards “Best Foreign Film” category. The Captain’s Daughter is an epic drama based on stories by Russia’s golden-age poet Alexander Pushkin.

Diary of His Wife is shown on Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. and Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. Captain’s Daughter is presented on Nov. 4 at 5:30 p.m. and Nov. 5 at 11:30 a.m.

Both films are in Russian with English subtitles. Free tickets are available for all George Mason students, faculty, and staff with valid Mason IDs.
