The Center for Health Policy, Research, and Ethics has begun accepting applications for its ninth annual Health Policy Institute set to begin June 4, 2001. The institute, with the theme “The Nation’s Health: Action through Public Policy,” is divided into three program options. A policy institute core week of lectures and activities is held June 4 to 8; the institute and a Washington, D.C., internship are held June 11 to 15; and a leadership training session is held June 3 to 8.
“The policy institute informs participants of the policy making process, major health policy issues, and the forces influencing them,” says Mary Wakefield, director of the center. “Participants will meet with members or staff of their congressional delegations and attend federal agency and/or congressional meetings.”
This program is primarily geared toward people in health care and related professions, health organization/association representatives and lobbyists, consumer organization representatives, and faculty and students in health disciplines. Participants may earn graduate credit or CEUs.
