George Mason University student volunteers will be patrolling neighborhoods around the Fairfax Campus on Halloween night for Witch Watch 2000, an annual event designed to protect young trick-or-treaters in Fairfax City.

The witch watchers, made up of students and Mason alumni, will patrol intersections and crossways in several areas of Fairfax City from 7:30 to 9 p.m. tonight. They will be recognized by their Witch Watch T-shirts and will stand guard in groups of three or four. There is a $3 registration fee per person due upon check-in for those interested in participating. Sponsored by the Student Government, check-in begins at 6 p.m. on the quad.

Witch Watch organizers work with Fairfax County Public Schools and city and county police to inform parents and children of the evening’s activities. For more information, contact the Student Government at x32923.
