Close observors may have noticed that the streets at George Mason’s Fairfax Campus now have different names. These changes, according to Keith Bushey, the university’s chief safety officer, were made to honor an earlier agreement between George Mason and Fairfax County. Because many of the old street names are used for streets in other parts of the county, the changes will lessen the possibility of confusion for emergency officials.
The new street names are Roanoke River Road, Banister Creek Court, Anna River Court, Aquia River Lane, Occoquan River Lane, George Mason Boulevard, Mason Pond Drive, Chesapeake River Way, Buffalo Creek Court, Rivanna River Lane, Shenandoah River Lane, Sandy Creek Way, Presidential Park Drive, Rockfish Creek Lane, Mattaponi River Lane, Holston Creek Court, Nottoway River Lane, and Po River Lane.
These streets are identified in the campus map in the 2000-01 student/faculty/staff telephone directory.
