The George Mason Book Club is looking for staff and faculty members to join them for informal discussions usually centered works of nonfiction. The club meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at 5 p.m. on the third floor of the Johnson Center near the south-side elevators.
The next scheduled meeting is Oct. 24. The book to be discussed is Captured by Aliens: The Search for Life and Truth in a Very Large Universe by Joel Achenbach,
a science writer for the Washington Post. Achenbach describes his book as a “travelogue, a record of my strange journey into alien country.” He explains that his purpose in writing the book was to “explain how our collective imagination has been captured by the idea of aliens.”
Most recently, the members of the club discussed The Monk in the Garden, a biography of Gregor Mendel. For more information, contact Bob Ehrlich at x31268 or Nancy Murphy at x38760.
