The Potomac Heights vegetable garden is ready for harvest, and you can share in its bounty.

For the next two Thursdays (July 14 and July 21), from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the garden staff will be at Johnson Center Kiosk C selling vegetables grown in the garden.

According to Danielle Wyman, sustainability projects specialist in the Office of Sustainability, the following will be available this week:

  • Summer squash
  • Red cabbage
  • Onions
  • Hot peppers
  • Green tomatoes (recipes for fried green tomatoes will be available)
  • Green beans
  • One “huge” cantaloupe
  • Fresh herbs

Wyman expects next week’s sale to be “tomato-heavy” as that crop ripens.

As a bonus, free samples of iced lavender tea will be available.

All items are “reasonably priced,” and only cash will be accepted, says Wyman. Funds raised will go to the student Organic Gardening Association.

Wyman adds that sign-up sheets for garden volunteers will be available, as well as information on service learning opportunities in the garden for the fall.
