To provide its men’s basketball fans with more options than ever to follow the Patriots, the athletic department has expanded the George Mason Radio Network for the 2000-01 basketball season.

WDCT, 1310 AM in Fairfax, has been added as a network affiliate for the upcoming season. WDCT will allow fans to follow the Patriots anywhere in Fairfax County and much of the surrounding area. With a 5,000-watt signal during daylight hours, WDCT can be heard as far east as Prince George’s County in Maryland and as far west as Fauquier County in Virginia. The station can be heard in Fairfax County at all times. WGMU, 88.1 FM, will continue to be the network flagship station.

“WDCT is very pleased to carry George Mason University men’s basketball for the upcoming season,” says WDCT president Kyungsup Shin. “We feel that this partnership will benefit both the university and WDCT while also allowing Patriots fans to expand the receiving area for the first time in several years.”

The athletic department continues its long-time arrangement with WGMU. “This marks the fifth consecutive year WGMU has partnered with the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to bring Patriot basketball to the university community,” says WGMU general manager Rodger Smith. “I’m very proud of this service.”

Using the Internet, fans of George Mason men’s basketball will be able to follow the Patriots anywhere in the world via two audio streaming web sites: and the WGMU web site.
