Bragging Rights: Telecom Students Win Competition

A team of students in the MS in telecommunications program won the first prize in the Competition for Engineering Student Projects on Space Systems, which took place at Intelsat in Washington, D.C.
The students’ project title was “Satellite Cluster in Orbit Network (SCION).” Team members are James Bonner, Gregory Bock, Rishab Jaiswal, Neha Nagar, Amit Puranik, Kyurim Rhee, Edward Sestak and Vidya Venugopal. The work was presented by Jaiswal, Puranik, Sestak and Venugopal. Sestak was team leader, aided by Bock and Puranik.
Jeremy Allnutt, professor of electrical and computer engineering, supervised the students. Allnutt is also the founding and former director of the MS in telecommunications program.
The Society of Satellite Professionals International sponsored and organized the competition, which is expected to become an annual event.
