Women’s soccer head coach Jac Cicala registered his 100th career victory as the Patriots opened up the 2000 season with a 3 to 0 shutout win over Navy at George Mason Stadium Friday afternoon. Cicala improved his career mark to 100-56-15.

Katy Robertson and Jayme Beamer each tallied a goal and an assist. Goalkeeper Sarah Coughlin made five saves in her first collegiate start.

The Patriots scored their first goal in the 20th minute, when Erika Webster took a short corner kick from Beamer and passed it to Stephanie Hancock, who headed it into the goal. Beamer made the score 2 to 0 in the 43rd minute, taking a pass from Robertson and slipping it over Midshipmen goalkeeper Sarah Wilson. Robertson scored the final goal off a Kerri Beck pass.

The Patriots are back in action Sunday, when they meet fourth-ranked Penn State on the road.
