Every week on GMU-TV, three roundtable discussion television programs–Mason Currents, Capital Region Roundtable, and Time Out–are shown during primetime. GMU-TV is shown on Cox Cable channel 18, Comcast (Reston) channel 18, and Comcast (Alexandria) channels 79 and 95. Following are the topics, hosts, guests, and programming schedule for each show airing this week:
- Mason Currents #9–“What is the English Language Institute (ELI)? How Does ELI Help Foreign Students?” is hosted by Star Muir, Department of Instructional Improvement and Instructional Technologies. Guests are John Pope, assistant director of ELI; Sehlem Ertekin, ELI student from Turkey; and Joon-Hwe Koo, ELI student from South Korea. The show airs tonight at 9:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 11:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 30, and Friday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 2, at 5 p.m.
- Capital Region Roundtable #36–“Standards of Learning” is hosted by Toni-Michelle Travis, Public and International Affairs. Guests are Jean-Marie Devolites, delegate of the 35th House District, Virginia General Assembly; Barney Day, delegate of the 10th House District, Virginia General Assembly; Rick Baumgartner, president-elect of the Fairfax Education Association; and Gary Galluzzo, former dean of the Graduate School of Education. The show airs tonight at 11:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Aug. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 2, at 9:30 p.m.; and Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m.
- Time Out #6–“Life Skills Advising for Athletes” is hosted by Mike Tapscott, former director of Minority Student Affairs. The guest is Nena Rodgers, life skills advisor at George Mason. The show airs Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 9:30 p.m.; Thursday, Aug. 31, at 11:30 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m.
