Classes begin today at all three campuses as George Mason welcomes faculty, staff, and students with information fairs, receptions, refreshments, movies, and music as part of its Welcome Week 2000 festivities. All events take place under the Welcome Week tent on the Johnson Center North Plaza unless otherwise noted. Activities will be moved to the SUB II Ballroom in case of rain.
The week gets started with a Breakfast Bash, hosted by the Student Senate and Faculty Senate, this morning at 8 a.m. on the Fairfax Campus. Students who attend have the opportunity to meet student government officials and faculty leaders. At 7 p.m., the community is invited to Whodunit? (Murder Mystery Theater) in the SUB II Ballroom. Audience members play detective to solve the mystery and win a prize.
A second Breakfast Bash on Tuesday at 8 a.m. gives participants the chance to “hang out” with student athletes. The Prince William Campus hosts a variety of activities in the PW1 Lobby, including breakfast treats at 8:15 a.m., a welcome-back cake at noon, and a reception at 3:45 p.m.
From 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the SUB I Game Room hosts the Game Room Social where students are invited to play pool, table tennis, and foosball at no charge.
Thursday is Patriot’s Day, sponsored by the Program Board. Activities on the Quad include bungee run, joust, bouncy boxing, obstacle course, moonwalk, last one standing, and live music. Loveline at George Mason is held from 4 to 6 p.m.
Movie lovers are invited to watch Road Trip Friday night at 9 p.m. in the Johnson Center Cinema. From midnight to 2 a.m., a free breakfast buffet with entertainment is held in the lower level of SUB I. This event takes place the first Friday of every month.
