George Mason women’s soccer forward Katy Robertson has been named a Preseason All-American by Soccer Buzz Magazine, an online publication.
The junior was 1 of 12 students in the nation to earn the honor and the only selection from the Colonial Athletic Association. Robertson set a CAA and school record last season, scoring 60 points on 23 goals and 14 assists. She ranked second in the nation in scoring, averaging three points per game. Robertson also ranked second in goals and ninth in assists.
A two-time All-CAA player, Robertson earned first-team All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors from Soccer Buzz last season and second-team accolades as a freshman. She was a second-team Mid-Atlantic Region All-America selection in 1998 and 1999.
Robertson is only the third player in George Mason history to top the career 100-point plateau. She enters the 2000 season with 105 points–63 shy of the school record, held by Jenn Gross. In addition, she is a two-time CAA Scholar Athlete.
George Mason posted a 9-11 overall record and a 5-3 CAA record last year. The Patriots are slated to finish fourth in the conference according to the preseason coaches’ poll.
