Patriot Pack Out, now in its fifth year, is an award-winning annual event that facilitates waste reduction at Mason by encouraging the Mason community to donate unwanted/unopened food, clothing and small appliances, which are then delivered to charities benefiting our local community.
Please donate your items the weekdays of May 16–23 at the drive-up/drop-off location at Rappahannock River Parking Deck, 1st level. Again, the items needed are:
- Nonperishable, unopened food
- Small appliances
In 2010, the university collected a total of 8,180 pounds of recyclable materials. From this collection, 1,384 pounds of food was donated to Food for Others, which fed 346 families. Another 6,796 pounds of clothing and small appliances were donated to the Clock Tower Thrift Shop in Falls Church, which benefits Northern Virginia Family Services. The estimated $26,721 in revenue generated from our donation drive benefited programs for Fairfax County families.
