George Mason has received the 1998-99 Uniform Accident Prevention Program Award from the Virginia State Police Department. The honor is awarded annually in eight separate categories to the state agency that has the highest number of miles driven per chargeable crash. The university placed first in the division for agencies that own their own vehicles and drive from 500,000 to 1 million miles a year.
Paul Kashmer, assistant director for administration and personnel of the Physical Plant, accepted a plaque on behalf of George Mason at an awards ceremony in Chesterfield County.
“This is a great honor for the university, and it reflects highly on the individuals who operate our vehicles,” says Kashmer. “This award means we have some of the safest drivers in the state of Virginia.”
