The 11-member Independent Bipartisan Advisory Commission on Redistricting will hold a forum at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, in Mason Hall’s Edwin Meese Conference Room. During the forum, members of the community may present their ideas on how to draw new political boundaries in Virginia.

In addition, the commission will review new district maps created by student teams, including a team from Mason, as part of a statewide competition.

The panel was charged with making recommendations about new district maps for the 100 seats in the House of Delegates, 40 seats in the state Senate and Virginia’s 11 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The commission will present its report to Gov. Bob McDonnell by April 1. A special session of the Virginia General Assembly will convene on April 4 to consider recommendations and vote on new districts.
