Mason Dining Offers Campus More Choices

New. Fresh. Exciting. Mason Dining is definitely giving campus diners a taste for their money.
In the coming year, more than five new eateries are opening on the Fairfax Campus alone.
Although it is a challenging task managing the 30-plus food and dining facilities, Denise Ammaccapane, Sodexo resident district manager, says Mason Dining is always ready to do more.
“There is no slowing down for Mason Dining. We are constantly planning what we can do for Mason’s community,” says Ammaccapane. “The challenge is to open a venue that offers students and faculty something different.”
In the upcoming weeks, Mason will be opening an Original Burger, a fast-food venue that offers quality burgers, chicken sandwiches, chili and fries, with up to 25 different toppings to choose from. Original Burger will be located at the Fairfax Campus in Student Union Building II.
“It’s similar to a Five Guys concept. You get your burger on the go with your toppings, and everything is included in one price,” Ammaccapane says.
On the Arlington Campus, an Einstein Bros. Bagels will be opening in Founders Hall in the next few weeks. Other Einstein Bros. Bagels will also be opening in University Hall on the Fairfax Campus when that building is completed later this spring and in the Nguyen Engineering Building this fall.
Also coming this fall to the Fairfax Campus are Red Mango, offering fat- and gluten-free yogurt, and Auntie Anne’s Pretzels. Both will be located in the Tidewater residence hall.
A Subway will be located in the new Housing VIIIA complex now under construction. This sandwich franchise will be combined with a large convenience store marketed to students who have kitchens.
As Mason Dining continues growing, Ammaccapane seeks feedback from diners, especially from students.
“I highly encourage Mason students to tell us what they want to see happen on campus.”
