Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) has been reaccredited by the International Association of Counseling Services Inc. (IACS), an organization of counseling agencies in the United States, Canada and Australia.
CAPS, a unit of University Life, offers counseling and consultation services to the Mason community and is directed by Jeffrey Pollard. The center is located in SUB I, Room 3129, on the Fairfax Campus.
CAPS was evaluated by IACS against high standards of counseling practice and was found to offer competent and reliable professional services to the Mason community. Approval by IACS is also dependent upon evidence of continuing professional development as well as demonstration of excellence of counseling performance.
“CAPS’ staff is proud to be recognized once again by IACS,” says Pollard. “CAPS has held this recognition for more than 25 years, reflecting our tradition of excellence.”
CAPS leadership has been involved with IACS through service, as well. Ralph Roberts, the previous director, served as treasurer for many years, and Pollard recently completed service on the IACS Board of Directors.
IACS was established to encourage and aid counseling agencies to meet high professional standards through peer evaluation and to inform the public about counseling services that are competent and reliable.
