On Sunday, Jan. 30, Mason will celebrate the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit with a dumpling cooking lesson, cultural dance performers, games, prizes and refreshments.
The event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. in the Johnson Center Dewberry Hall. Doors open at 1:30 p.m., and free parking is available in Lots A, C, J and K. Tickets are $3 for students, senior citizens and children, and $6 for all others.
The New World Bilingual Institute (NWBI) and the Office of Diversity Programs and Services (ODPS) will present performances that include the presidential dragon dance, a Broadway number and a traditional Chinese dance.
A red envelope containing money will be given to each performer at the event, according to Te Wang, president of the NWBI.
“It is to give our blessings to the young students who have worked so hard on their performances,” Wang says.
