Get in Shape with Mason Recreation Programs

Mason Recreation, part of Intercollegiate Athletics, is offering all kinds of opportunities to help you get in shape during 2011.

  • Right now, they’re offering 25 percent off personal training packages — but hurry, the offer ends Jan. 16. Stop by the Aquatic and Fitness Center (AFC) or Recreation Athletic Complex (RAC) for more information or visit There’s just one catch: You must be a current member of Mason Recreation.
  • Mason Recreation is also offering the Second Annual Resolution Solution Fitness Challenge presented by Pacers Running Stores. Get your department co-workers and friends together for this fun 12-week program that runs Jan. 31 to April 29. Using the Wellness by Mason fitness model, individuals track their own weekly fitness points earned through exercise (i.e., yoga, walking, running, swimming, biking, lifting weights, Pilates, etc). Each department will compete to determine the most “miles” recorded with the total points based on weekly averages. The first 250 participants will receive a pedometer courtesy of Pacers. There are also special promotions, a faculty/staff membership discount and sponsored guest pass coinciding with the Fitness Challenge that will help departments and individuals join Mason Recreation.   • Mason Recreation is also offering a free introduction to yoga and Pilates on Wednesday, Jan. 26 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the RAC yoga and Pilates room. The class will feature 30 minutes of introductory-level Pilates and 30 minutes of yoga. All participants are required to have a current fitness membership or pay the facility guest fees for the day.
