Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 17 by volunteering with your family to assist with projects that benefit local community organizations.

That day, Mason’s Center for Leadership Development and Volunteer Fairfax will sponsor the second annual Give Together: A Family Volunteer Day in the Johnson Center Dewberry Hall.

All service projects are targeted toward families with elementary school-aged children. Projects will benefit deployed military personnel and their families, children, hospital patients, orphans and even homeless animals.

Two shifts are available: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

See the website for details.

Also, the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution is sponsoring the Martin Luther King Day of Service on Jan. 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Children’s Center, 2512 Sheridan Rd., SE, Washington, DC 20020. Service will include projects that help revitalize the Anacostia neighborhood.
