Mason’s Go Green with Gunston program has won another award, this time for its lively and kid-friendly website.

The website, designed by Siteworx, received the Environmental Standard of Excellence WebAward presented by the Web Marketing Association for outstanding achievement in website development.

Deb Ranson in Creative Services designed the site’s logo, which previously won an award from the Virginia Recycling Association.

An innovative, interactive environmental-education program, Go Green with Gunston is designed for elementary-school children in kindergarten through third grade who participate in the School Age Child Care (SACC) program, which is run by the Fairfax County Office for Children. Approximately 1,900 children have experienced the program since it was initiated in 2009.

Mason’s Office of Community Relations, part of University Relations, developed Go Green with Gunston in partnership with the National Energy Education Development Project. The program has also won awards from the National Association of Counties and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.
